By the late 1990s, Portland's punk scene was asking: "What comes after studs, leather, and big hair?" Enter the RIFFS. Now, 22 years later, their third and final TKO LP, Death Or Glory, receives a long-overdue reissue. Eschewing UK82 stylings, the RIFFS embraced punk's raw energy and bolted power pop and rock & roll together with influences from New York Dolls, Undertones and Flamin' Groovies. The album is a great testament to the power of four chords, sonic swagger and denim jackets that sits proudly in Portland's enduring punk lineage and underlines the band's lasting impact on the city's independent scene.
