To Cherish showcases Northcote, the project of Canadian singer-songwriter Matt Goud, in a phase of personal and creative renewal. Known since 2008 for his warm voice, sincere lyrics, and energetic live shows, Northcote has built a loyal international fan base through touring North America and Europe and sharing the stage with artists such as The Gaslight Anthem, Frank Turner, and Hot Water Music. The album was recorded at Rain City Studios in Vancouver under the direction of producer Jesse Gander, who lends the songs a powerful, immediate clarity. To Cherish reflects a time of upheaval—the end of a long-term relationship, an important spiritual transition, and the creative excitement of returning to the stage. Musically, the work builds on the intimate dynamics of the duo's tours. Longtime partner Stephen McGillivray contributes significantly to the atmosphere with his characteristic guitar playing, supported by Paul Rigby, percussionist Mike Battle, and bassist Eric Paone. The songs combine lyrical depth with emotional intensity and invite listeners to consciously appreciate the ups and downs of life.
