V/A - Finnish Spunk / Hard Beat LP

Reissue of the Finnish Spunk - Hard Beat compilation originally released in 1984.  Few countries had as consistently great a hardcore scene as Finland in the 80's, and this compilation serves as a who's who of the Finnish punk masters of the era.  Like the all the best compilations to come out of the international 80's HC movement, Finnish Spunk serves as Rosetta Stone of sorts, where to this day the album stands as the perfect guide for the uninitiated to sample the glory of Finnish hc at its peak.  Featuring top shelf material from groups like Riistetyt, Destrucktions, Kaaos, Terveet Kadet and more, diving into the discographies of all the groups on this compilation will give you a better education on the foundations of Finnish hardcore than any retrospective on the planet.  Besides being a gateway drug, the album serves as a front to back raging slab of anthemic hardcore punk in its own right.  This utterly essential platter is thankfully presented in its first official US reissue ever, in hopes that it might convert the hearts and minds of future generations.  Mandatory listening!
