Now this is some wyld-ass Rock ‘n Roll that I can get behind. Comin' atchya from the City of Angels and fronted by the one and only Rock ‘n Roll wild child Chad Cherry (of the Last Vegas!); the Claws play gut-level Rock ‘n Roll from the heart. On their debut album, ‘No Connection’, the Claws boast ten brooding tracks that run the gamut from swanky, driving Rock & Rollers to down ‘n dirty Blues stabbers to country-fused desperado Rockers that perfectly straddle the line between Saturday night excess and Sunday morning regret. The Claws strut with a raunchy mix of tough riffs and rootsy nihilism playin’ hard-driving, Blues-based Rock & Roll adapting a few bulletproof characteristics from the Rolling Stones into their own savage, sonic arsenal. These motheruckers fire it off with the sleazy, street-wise swagger of the New York Dolls and wash it down with the gypsy-desperado boogie of bands like the Hangmen, Tex & The Horseheads and Nikki Sudden forging nearly a dozen energized cuts that hitchya right outta gate. A stone cold stunner from Los Angeles complemented by Dr. Boogies’s executive producer, Gabe Lowry, who captures lighting in a bottle once again. Top notch song writing hammer it home and the album comes adorned with beautiful, eye catching cover art by Alex Hagen as well.
