In 2018, Warsaw’s Poison Heart released their album HEART OF BLACK CITY, a potent slab of Scandi-styled, high-energy punk & roll from the unlikeliest of places – Warsaw, Poland. It also heralded the launch of the newborn Heavy Medication Records label. Now, 7 years and one pandemic later, the band is ready to release their follow-up album, titled LOVE, LIES & HARD TIMES.
While the band is still far from hanging up their Turbojugend jackets, fans will notice an evolution in their songwriting which was hinted at on 2021’s “Sailors’ Stories” single. While their sound is still built on twin riffin’ guitars (courtesy of Pawel Kozicki and Grzegorz Bialowarczuk), a robust rhythm section (bassist Jacek Bartnik and drummer Michal Wroblewski) and Jacek Barton’s muscular vocals. The ten originals that make up the new album don’t skimp on melodies and hooks, while its bigger production ramps up the power and dynamics that are a staple of Poison Heart’s live performances. And while the band still sing in English, LOVE, LIES & HARD TIMES features three songs sung in their native language.
