To mark the 50th anniversary of the Ace label, the legendary Motörhead debut is now being re-released as a deluxe double LP with a red cover, silver logo and 12 bonus tracks!
Without a valid record contract, Motörhead decided to disband in the spring of 1977 due to a lack of success and give one last concert. Ted Carroll from Chiswick Records was present during this concert and subsequently offered the musicians a record deal for a single. The recordings resulted in a complete album, which was released in September 1977 under the title 'Motörhead'. The record was produced by ex-Thunderclap Newman "Speedy" Keen and recorded by the unforgotten, legendary Mark 1 line-up of Kilmister, Taylor and Clarke.
The two LPs not only offer the classic first album with titles such as 'White Line Fever', 'Violator' and 'Keep Us On The Road', but also combine 'City Kids', the 'Beer Drinkers EP' and various mixes and alternative versions of legendary classics such as 'Motörhead', 'The Watcher' and 'Keep Us On The Road' on sides 3 and 4. Both hard rock fans and punks, whose time had just begun (a little later also with the involvement of Chiswick Records with bands such as The Damned), could agree on the sound.
The album cover features a silver hot foil replica of Joe Petagno's original Motörhead logo in all its glory. The informative liner notes are by Ted Carroll, who tells the fan the story of how the label Chiswick Records managed to scrape together the money for the recording and write themselves and Motörhead into rock'n'roll history! Number 43 in the British album charts marked the band's first commercial success.
What was to follow is well known!
