Viagra Boys – Cave World LP

Swedish post-punk pranksters Viagra Boys return to Stockholm’s beloved YEAR0001 imprint for their latest LP entitled Cave World. Adding bits of Madchester swagger and art rock obfuscation to their usual briskly paced social commentary, the Boys appear to be growing up a little. The retro-leaning ‘Troglodyte’ takes aim at the weekend warrior set with hooky new-wave keyboard run that sounds ripped from an 80’s MTV playlist (in a good way), the infectious fuzz bassline on talk-singer track ‘Ain’t No Thief’ sounding like a raw amphetamine fuelled Warmduscher, perhaps best described by their own classification of post-truth-cow-funk-kraut-wave-enlightenment.
